June 25 (UPI) — The Florida Panthers acquired forward Garnet Hathaway through a trade with the Philadelphia Flyers, general manager Bill Zito announced Thursday.
The Panthers agreed to send a fifth-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft and a fourth-round pick in 2027 in exchange for Hathaway and a sixth-round pick in 2026. The Flyers also will pay 50% of Hathaway’s contract.
“Garnet is a physical and highly competitive player who will complement our group well,” Zito said. “We’re excited to add his veteran presence to our group for the upcoming season.”
Hathaway, 34, totaled a goal and two assists over 66 appearances last season. He previously spent time with the Calgary Flames, Washington Capitals and Boston Bruins.
He totaled 10 goals and 11 assists over 67 appearances in 2024-25. Hathaway recorded a career-high 26 points, with 14 goals and 12 assists, over 76 appearances in 2021-22 for the Capitals.
Hathaway is under contract through 2026-27 and set to become a free agent next off-season.
