Bruno Guimaraes has set his sights on winning trophies and making history at Arsenal after completing his move from Newcastle United to the reigning Premier League champions.

The Brazil midfielder, who made 153 Premier League appearances for Newcastle, scoring 30 goals and providing 25 assists, said his conversation with manager Mikel Arteta convinced him that Arsenal was the right club for the next stage of his career.

Speaking to JioHotstar, Guimarães said he was ready for the challenge and eager to contribute to a side with ambitions of competing for major honours.

“It feels amazing to join Arsenal. I’m grateful for this opportunity. When I first spoke to Mikel Arteta, I felt excited right away. I knew inside that I needed a new challenge, and Arsenal felt like the right place,” Guimarães said.

“The club has a great history and a clear vision. I want to be part of that and help the team achieve big things. I’m looking forward to getting started and giving my best for the fans.”

The move represents a new chapter for Guimarães after a strong spell at Newcastle, where he established himself as one of the Premier League’s leading central midfielders.

The 28-year-old said joining the defending champions carries significant responsibility, while also highlighting the excitement within his family about moving to London.

“It’s a big responsibility to play for the Premier League champions and wear this shirt. It’s a club with great tradition,” he said.

“My whole family is excited to be here and to live in London. I’m really looking forward to everything, the manager is amazing, the teammates are welcoming and the environment here is very positive.”

Having previously faced Arsenal as a Newcastle player, Guimarães is now looking forward to experiencing those contests from the opposite side.

“Whenever I faced Arsenal, it was always a tough game. Now I’m on this side, and I hope we can create many special moments together,” he added.

Guimarães arrives at Arsenal with significant international experience, having represented Brazil at two FIFA World Cups.

He believes the timing of the move is right as he enters another important phase of his career, with trophies and a lasting legacy among his primary ambitions.

“After playing in two FIFA World Cups, I feel this is the right time in my career for a new challenge. I want to win trophies and make history, and I believe I’m in the right place to do that,” he said.

The midfielder also acknowledged the demands of a long season, stressing the importance of squad depth as Arsenal compete across multiple competitions.

“We have a lot of games this season, so every player in the squad will be important. I’m ready to give my best and help the team achieve great things. Hopefully, we can turn our dreams into reality.”

Guimarães described himself as a central midfielder who values possession, intensity and defensive work, while also looking to contribute in the final third.

“I’m a central midfielder. I like to keep the ball moving with good passing, and I love to cover ground. I play with intensity and never give up,” he said.

“I always try to help the team in every moment of the game. I’m comfortable on the ball, calm under pressure, and I can pick out the right pass. I also like to get forward and score when I can.”

Guimarães will now look to translate those qualities into Arsenal’s midfield as the club begins its defence of the Premier League title.
