Yan Diomande will delay any decision on the next step in a growing club career until Ivory Coast finish their World Cup campaign, with coach Emerse Fae stressing that the RB Leipzig winger is concentrating fully on the tournament after a standout display against Ecuador.
Several leading European sides, including Liverpool and Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain, are monitoring Diomande after impressive form for RB Leipzig in 2025-26. Fae made clear that no agreement has been reached, and that discussions about Diomande’s future will wait until the national team’s journey at the World Cup is complete.
Diomande produced 22 goal involvements for Leipzig during the 2025-26 season, combining 13 goals with a joint-team-high nine assists in all competitions. That contribution pushed Diomande into wider focus across Europe, and created strong interest in how the winger would handle the step up to World Cup football with Ivory Coast.
Across the same campaign, Diomande also ranked among the most direct players in Germany. Among all Bundesliga players in all competitions, only Michael Olise completed more dribbles, finishing with 140. Diomande recorded 132 successful dribbles, underlining regular one‑against‑one threat from wide areas for RB Leipzig.
That club form translated onto the World Cup stage when Ivory Coast beat Ecuador 1-0 in Group E. Diomande attempted a game-high seven dribbles and completed four. Diomande also led all players for duels contested with 15, duels won with 11, and touches inside the opposition penalty area with 12.
Creatively, Diomande set up five chances during the Ecuador match, driving much of Ivory Coast’s attacking play. Only two Ivory Coast players have created more chances in a single World Cup game: Arthur Boka, who made six against DPR Korea in 2010, and Didier Zokora, who produced seven versus Serbia in 2006.

Fae outlined the transfer situation and the need for calm around Diomande’s future. “When we were in France, during the preparation, journalists told me he was about to sign with PSG,” Fae said. “Here, they tell me he’s about to sign with Liverpool! I don’t know, but for now, he will focus on the World Cup, and then afterwards, he can think about the rest of his career.”
The Ivory Coast coach also highlighted Diomande’s personality and approach to work within the squad. “He’s very talented, but beyond the talent, he’s very young and he’ll improve. He’s a kid who works hard, has a real team spirit, laughs with everyone, and he listens, listens to the technical staff whenever he’s given advice, and tries to do his best, as he’s told. It’s easy to work with someone like Yan, he’s so talented and has what is needed, plus he can give you the victory and was a real challenge for [Piero] Hincapie, a Champions League finalist.”
With Ivory Coast still involved at the World Cup, Diomande’s displays for RB Leipzig and against Ecuador have increased attention from clubs such as Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain, yet all parties remain focused on the national team’s progress before any decision is made on the winger’s long-term future.
