East Bengal have announced the signing of Spanish defender Nacho Monsalve, as the 32-year-old becomes their latest recruitment ahead of the new season.

Monsalve, known for his time at Atletico Madrid and FC Twente in Netherlands, is expected to be a top signing for the Kolkata-based club, who are the defending ISL champions.

Born as Ignacio Monsalve Vicente on April 27, 1994, in Madrid, Spain, Monsalve stands 1.88 metres (6 ft 2 in) tall and primarily operates as a centre-back. Comfortable with both feet, he is known for his composure in possession, aerial ability and positional awareness. His versatility has allowed him to play on either side of central defence, making him a valuable asset throughout his career.

Monsalve began his football journey in the youth academy of Atlético Madrid, joining the club as a teenager and progressing through its highly regarded development system.
