The Super League Kerala (SLK) is set for an expanded third season, with the 2026 edition bringing a new broadcast partnership, a fresh trophy, an updated points system and a revamped knockout format.

Season 3 of the Kerala-based football league will begin on September 25, 2026, with defending champions Kannur Warriors FC taking on Thrissur Magic FC at the Jawahar Municipal Stadium in Kannur. The opening match will also feature a live performance by popular rapper Dabzee.

Where to Watch Super League Kerala 2026?

One of the major developments ahead of the new season is the league’s partnership with Zee Entertainment. Fans will be able to watch all matches digitally on Zee5, while Unite8 Sports will provide linear television coverage. The league will also reach viewers in the UAE through Etisalat, expanding SLK’s international footprint.

Mathew Joseph, Director and CEO of Super League Kerala, said the partnership would help take Kerala football to a wider audience across India and the UAE.

New Super League Kerala Shield introduced

The third season will also see the introduction of the Super League Kerala Shield. Unlike the championship trophy, the new shield will be awarded to the team finishing top of the league table after the league stage, rewarding consistency throughout the regular season.

SLK Season 3 Expanded Season and New Points System

The competition has been expanded from 33 to 35 matches, with the biggest structural change coming in the semi-finals. The last-four stage will now be played over two legs, with teams facing each other home and away.

League-stage matches level after 90 minutes will go directly to a penalty shootout. The points system will also change.

3 points – Regulation-time win
2 points – Win via penalty shootout
1 point – Loss via penalty shootout
0 points – Regulation-time defeat

The semi-finals and other playoff matches will continue to use extra time before penalties if required.

Six clubs return for Season 3

All six clubs from the previous edition will feature again:

Forca Kochi FC
Kannur Warriors FC
Malappuram FC
Thiruvananthapuram Kombans FC
Thrissur Magic FC

The six teams have made a combined 162 signings, including 34 international players from 17 countries. The league will also continue its focus on developing local talent through the Project Game Changer initiative. Beyond football, SLK plans to enhance the overall matchday experience with entertainment activities between matches, including the continuation of its popular half-time show.
