Punjab FC have unveiled a 27-member squad for the 2026-27 Indian Super League season, with the club placing a strong emphasis on continuity and youth development. The Shers have included 10 academy graduates, three more than last season, as they prepare for their fourth ISL campaign.
The Chandigarh-based club will begin its campaign at home against Odisha FC on October 14 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi. The squad combines an established domestic core with new Indian and overseas additions, with first-season head coach Pavlos Dermitzakis tasked with building a competitive side.
Punjab FC have retained 14 players from last season’s ISL squad, including India internationals Bijoy Varghese, Ricky Shabong, Muhammed Uvais, Nikhil Prabhu are also part of the retained group.
The club’s academy pathway remains one of the biggest talking points. The 10 academy graduates earned their places after their performances in age-group competitions and the recently concluded IFA Shield, where Punjab FC reached the semi-finals.
The group includes goalkeeper Ayush Deshwal, defenders Ngarin Shaiza, Sohel Khan and Karish Soram, midfielders Bishu Sharma and Laishram Rishikanta Meitei, and forwards Konsam Sanathoi Singh, alongside Manglenthang Kipgen, Muhammad Suhail F and Vishal Yadav.
“This is a squad built with a clear idea of how we want to play, and I am very happy with the balance we have. We have experience in every department, players who know this club and the league, and ten young players from our academy who have earned their place through their work every single day,” he said.
Dermitzakis believes the squad has the right combination of experience and youthful energy as Punjab FC prepare for another demanding ISL campaign.
The foreign contingent features Patrick Bahanack, Mickaël Malsa, Diego Raposo, Alfred Planas Moya and Raphaël Messi Bouli, while Mohammad Inam and Gurkirat Singh are the new domestic additions.
Punjab FC will also look towards Raphaël Messi Bouli, who has already made an impact this season with three goals and three assists in the IFA Shield.
