Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth claimed Iran “begged” for the ceasefire deal that was made just ahead of the deadline set by President Donald Trump’s threats to wipe Iranian civilization off the map.
“No other president has shown the courage and resolve of this commander-in-chief,” Hegseth said during a Wednesday morning press conference. “President Trump forged this moment. Iran begged for this ceasefire, and we all know it.”
Hegseth went on to say that Iran’s missile program has been “functionally destroyed” and that its navy “is at the bottom of the sea.” He also claimed Iran’s air force has been “wiped out,” saying, “We own their skies.”
“Iran shot hundreds and hundreds of attack drones at our aircraft carrier. They were obsessed with it, and they never even got close,” Hegseth said.
