The IPL 2026 final, which was supposed to be held in Bengaluru this year, has been relocated to Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium and it will be played on May 31. Dharamshala and New Chandigarh, on the other hand, will share the Qualifier and Eliminator duties. The decision was taken by the BCCI on May 6.
As per the IPL governing body’s rule, the home ground of the defending champions are supposed to host at least one play-off and the final of a particular edition. As RCB won their maiden title in 2025, as per protocol, their primary venue, the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, was supposed to host one play-off game and the grand finale.
BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia clarified the board’s stance as he claimed that, as the Karnataka State Association was claiming a significantly higher number of complimentary tickets, much more than the 15 per cent rule of the board, the decision was taken to relocate the final venue.

Will Mohsin Naqvi attend the ICC meeting in Ahmedabad?
Like any other stakeholder, PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi has also received a formal invitation to attend the ICC meeting in Ahmedabad on May 30 and 31. However, Naqvi’s attendance is in doubt due to the ongoing geopolitical tensions between India and Pakistan.
Geo News in Pakistan has also reported that Naqvi has even been invited to attend the IPL 2026 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 31 after the meeting.
However, it remains uncertain whether Naqvi would travel to India in person to attend the meeting. Some reports have also emerged the Naqvi might consider attending the meeting virtually instead of attending it in person.
