Andre Onana is returning to Trabzonspor on loan from Manchester United for a second straight season. The Cameroon goalkeeper heads back for the 2026-27 campaign, after spending last season in Turkey. Manchester United still owns Onana’s contract and has agreed another temporary move.
During the 2025-26 season, Onana features 33 times for Trabzonspor across all competitions. Onana keeps six clean sheets and plays a major part in their Turkish Cup success. That triumph is the club’s first win in the competition since 2020, highlighting Onana’s influence.
Trabzonspor also secures third place in the Turkish Super Lig, improving from seventh the year before. At the same time, Onana appears only once for Manchester United in 2025-26. That outing comes in an EFL Cup tie, a penalty shoot-out defeat against League Two side Grimsby Town in August.
Onana initially joins Trabzonspor on loan in September of the previous season. The new agreement again runs for the full 2026-27 campaign. There is reportedly no purchase clause in the deal, and Onana, who has two years left on a Manchester United contract, is expected back in Manchester when the season ends.
Onana’s extended stay means Trabzonspor keep a familiar first-choice goalkeeper for another season, while Manchester United retains long-term control of the contract. The arrangement maintains depth in Manchester United’s squad plans, and gives Trabzonspor continuity after a successful domestic campaign.
