A 61-year-old woman was killed on Sunday morning after a man opened fire inside a crowded Ohio fitness center in what local authorities described as a domestic incident.
The victim, identified as Sharon Dorn of Stow, Ohio, was inside the Cuyahoga Falls Natatorium around 9:30 a.m. when 63-year-old Craig Alan Sipe entered the facility on Fourth Street and shot her, as reported by CBS affiliate WOIO.
Emergency medical services transported Dorn to Summa Akron City Hospital, where she died from her injuries shortly after arrival at 9:51 a.m.
Sipe, an Akron resident, surrendered to officers at the Cuyahoga Falls Police Department shortly after the attack occurred.
At his arraignment on Monday, Sipe pleaded not guilty to charges of aggravated murder, according to court records cited by WOIO. He is currently held on a $1 million bond at the Summit County Jail.

News of the shooting drew widespread online reaction, with many commenters on Facebook expressing sorrow over the escalation of domestic violence. Others condemned lighthearted responses to the tragedy.
“First and foremost, my condolences to the family of this lady,” Connie Musselman wrote in a comment online. “It’s so sad that this has become a norm. It’s not ok to kill somebody because you’re angry with that person.”
Others focused on the underlying issue of domestic disputes turning fatal.
“If you read the article, it indicates that it was likely a domestic situation. As in, domestic violence,” wrote Kelli Moran Sharpe, addressing questions about the motive.
In Cuyahoga Falls, residents are gathering Thursday evening for a vigil honoring Dorn. The service is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Church Square, a public green space near Second Street and Stow Avenue.
