With that, the Real Madrid player has now become the first English midfielder to score 5+ goals in a single World Cup edition.
He is also only the third England player to achieve the same, as previously Harry Kane and Gary Lineker have done it. Gary Lineker set the benchmark in 1986 with six goals, famously winning the Golden Boot as England reached the quarter-finals. Harry Kane matched that level in 2018 with six goals, again claiming the Golden Boot, and has now repeated the feat in 2026.
Kane, Bellingham create Record for England
The young midfielder has netted five goals, becoming the first England midfielder to reach this milestone in a single World Cup. And as Kane has also found the net six times, this is the first time two English players have scored 5+ goals in the same World Cup edition. Bellingham is also now the outright third place holder among the England goalscorers in the World Cup, as only Gary Lineker (10) and Harry Kane (14) are ahead of him.
