East Bengal head coach Antonio Lopez Habas acknowledged the team lacked intensity as they only managed a goalless draw against Al Seeb in their AFC Champions League Two match on Tuesday (October 28).
The East Bengal outfit lacked the cutting edge in front of goal and also failed to create many clear-cut opportunities in the continental encounter after their 5-1 thrashing of Inter Kashi.
It was an even match in Oman, as both teams had very few opportunities in the match. Al Seeb edged East Bengal in terms of stats, but the night couldn’t separate either side.
“It’s a bad performance from my team. I think my team were tired, too tired. There was no intensity and the opponent performed well. It was difficult for us,” Habas said at the post-match press conference.
But along with that, the Spaniard also believes his team will improve completely ahead of their next match, which is against Al Seeb only, in a week’s time in Kolkata on November 3.
“But we have to recover now. We have been out of Kolkata for a week, and there has been a lot of travel, but we have to improve for the next match. I am absolutely 100 per cent sure that the team will improve their level for the next match,” he added.
“We have to play Al Seeb immediately. Today, anyone could win, but the result was goalless. We have to think match by match and we can’t think too far ahead in the future. It is better to get a point instead of losing the match,” Habas concluded.
