Sept. 9 (UPI) — A Maryland woman who used the same set of lottery numbers for 20 years bought three tickets bearing those digits for a single Bonus Match 5 drawing and scored a total $150,000.
The White Plains resident told Maryland Lottery officials she has been playing the same Bonus Match 5 numbers for 20 years, so those were the digits she chose when she bought three tickets for a single drawing from White Plains Wine & Spirits in White Plains.
The woman said she was in such disbelief at seeing she had won that she immediately sought a second opinion.
“First I had to call my sister to read the numbers,” she said. “I had to talk to someone who gambles.”
Her sister confirmed that all three tickets had won $50,000 prizes, earning her a total $150,000.
“I was the last one to know,” the woman’s husband said.
The winner said her prize money will go toward doing some projects around the house.
