Aug. 31 (UPI) — Netflix is teasing the new film Tyler Perry’s Doing Life.
The streaming service shared a trailer for the romantic drama Monday featuring Naomi Baker and Jay Reeves.
Doing Life is written, directed and produced by Tyler Perry. The film follows a single mother (Baker) and a reformed ex-convict (Reeves) “who form an unlikely connection,” according to Netflix’s Tudum.
In the trailer, Baker’s character is seen explaining how the pair first met — when she was working at a correctional center while pregnant and was saved by Reeves’ character during a prison riot.
The pair face heavy objections to their relationship as they also navigate other struggles in life.
Tamberla Perry, Karen Obilom, Jasmine Sargent and Danielle Mone Truitt also star.
Tyler Perry’s Doing Life premieres Oct. 2 on Netflix.
