Aug. 31 (UPI) — An Ohio man credited his lucky number — 13 — with inspiring the purchase that earned him a $1 million prize from a scratch-off lottery ticket.
The Grafton resident told Ohio Lottery officials he doesn’t regularly buy $1,000,000 Stacked scratch-off tickets, but he decided to grab one from Butternut Food Mart on Lorain Road in North Ridgeville when the store owner pointed out it was No. 13, the player’s lucky number.
The man bought the ticket and two other games. He scratched the other two tickets first, revealing no prizes, before uncovering a $1 million top prize from the $1,000,000 Stacked game.
The winner said he took the ticket home and handed it to his wife.
“Is this yours?” he recalled her asking, to which he responded: “No, it’s ours.”
The man said the winnings will go into savings for the time being.
