May 19 (UPI) — Nashville will host Super Bowl LXIV in 2030 inside the Tennessee Titans’ new Nissan Stadium, the NFL announced Tuesday.
NFL owners approved the host city’s plans through a vote at the spring league meeting in Orlando, Fla. The occasion will mark the first time a Super Bowl will be held in the Music City.
“The 2019 NFL Draft in Nashville was one of the greatest fan events in our history,” NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said. “Super Bowl LXIV at the new stadium is the next step in this remarkable football journey. The vision of Amy Adams Strunk and the Tennessee Titans helped make this moment possible.
“With great partners at the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp. and Tennessee Titans, we can’t wait to put on an unforgettable show in 2030.”
The Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp. said the greater Nashville market will have a projected 658 hotels with more than 80,000 hotel rooms by 2030. Nashville currently has 531 hotels with more than 61,000 rooms.
The new $2.1 billion Nissan Stadium is planned to open in 2027.
Super Bowl LXI will be held Feb. 14 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif. Super Bowl LXII will be held in 2028 in Atlanta. Super Bowl LXIII will be in 2029 in Las Vegas.
Earlier Tuesday, the NFL announced that Minneapolis will host the 2028 NFL Draft. Nashville hosted that event in 2019, drawing 600,000 fans.
“We are thrilled that the new Nissan Stadium will host Nashville’s first Super Bowl in 2030,” Titans owner Amy Adams Strunk said. “This is an exciting moment for our city and our entire state.
“We cannot wait for our community to experience an event of this magnitude and for the world to see the energy, hospitality, and culture that make our city so special on a global stage.”
