June 13 (UPI) — Hector Rusthenford Guerrero Flores, an alleged Tren de Aragua transnational gang leader known as Niño Guerrero, was killed in Venezuela this week, U.S. President Donald Trump and Venezuelan officials have announced.
U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said the joint mission between the two countries targeted a compound housing Guerrero Flores, who was wanted in the United States on federal terrorism, weapons, racketeering and drug charges brought against him last year.
In 2024, the Biden administration offered a reward of up to $5 million for information leading to Guerrero Flores.
“At my direction, the United States Southern Command delivered a swift and lethal kinetic strike to successfully execute Niño Guerrero, the infamous leader of Tren De Aragua, one of the most bloodthirsty Terrorist Organizations on Planet Earth,” the White House posted on X.
Venezuela’s communications ministry also confirmed the strike in a statement.
“During the operation, clashes occurred with members of these criminal structures, resulting in the death of Héctor Rusthenford Guerrero Flores, alias ‘Niño Guerrero,'” the leader of a criminal organization,” the statement said.
