June 30 (UPI) — Las Vegas Aces center A’ja Wilson will not play in the Commissioner’s Cup title game due to a right leg injury, the team announced Tuesday.
The Aces will meet the New York Liberty at 7 p.m. EDT Tuesday in Brooklyn, N.Y. The matchup will air on Prime Video.
Wilson tweaked her right ankle during the Aces’ win over the Chicago Sky on Sunday in Chicago. She briefly went to the locker room, but returned to the floor.
She had the ankle taped and tended to after the victory, but said she was “feeling good.” Wilson totaled a game-high 30 points, with 15 rebounds, four steals and three blocks against the Sky.
The Liberty are 6.5 point favorites to beat the Aces on Tuesday at Barclays Center.
Wilson, who won four of the last six MVP Awards, including the last two, averaged a league-best 25.7 points, 9.4 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 2.0 blocks and 1.6 steals per game through her first 19 starts this season. The seven-time All-Star, five-time block champion, three-time Defensive Player of the Year and two-time scoring champion helped the Aces to a 14-5 record, the second-best in the WNBA, trailing only the Minnesota Lynx (15-4).
The Aces went 8-2 over their last 10 games. They will host the Sky at 10 p.m. Friday in Las Vegas.
