June 7 (UPI) — Schmigadoon, Ragtime, Death of a Salesman and Liberation were the big winners at the Tony Awards at Radio City Music Hall in New York Sunday night.
Schmigadoon, which was produced by Saturday Night Live mastermind Lorne Michaels, won for Best Musical, Best Original Score, Orchestrations and Book of a Musical.
Ragtime earned the honors for Best Revival of a Musical, Best Actor in a Musical for Joshua Henry and Best Actress in a Musical for Caissie Levy.
The Lost Boys earned the accolades for Best Supporting Actor in a Musical for Ali Louis Bourzgui, Best Supporting Actress in a Musical for Shoshana Bean, Scenic Design of a Musical and Lighting Design of the Musical.
John Lithgow was voted Best Actor in a Play for Giant, Lesley Manville won for Best Actress in a Play for Oedipus and Alden Ehrenreich won the Best Supporting Actor in a Play trophy for Becky Shaw.
Laurie Metcalf took home the statuette for Best Supporting Actress in a Play for Death of a Salesman, which also won for Best Revival of a Play. Joe Mantello scored the Best Director of a Play prize for helming it.
Liberation won for Best Play.
Grammy-winning singer Pink hosted the gala and Leslie Odom Jr. sang “Without You” from the musical Rent for the “In Memoriam” segment, which paid tribute to stars like Robert Duvall, Robert Redford and Diane Keaton, who died in the past year.
