Sept. 20 (UPI) — U.S. President Donald Trump will meet with New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani in New York on Monday, the mayor’s office said Sunday.

The meeting at Gracie Mansion, the mayor’s official residence, “will focus on issues affecting New York City and New Yorkers,” Mamdani’s press office reportedly said in a statement

Trump will be in New York to address the opening of the United Nations General Assembly.

Mamdani, a democratic socialist, and Republican Trump have had a friendly relationship.

In February, Mamdani said the two had a “productive” meeting at the White House where they discussed possibly building new housing in their hometown.

Still, the two have clashed. Mamdani and New York State Attorney General Letitia James sued the administration over its plan to keep bar immigrants who use public benefits from receiving green cards.
