July 30 (UPI) — Yellow Veil Pictures released the trailer for Boorman and the Devil on Thursday. The documentary opens Aug. 28 in theaters.
Director David Kittredge interviewed John Boorman about the making of The Exorcist II: The Heretic. The film’s stars Linda Blair and the late Louise Fletcher are also on camera reflecting on the chaos of the film’s making.
Blair admits she never wanted to be a part of the sequel until she read the script. Unfortunately, frequent revisions compromised the film.
Fletcher plays a doctor treating Regan MacNeil (Blair) in the aftermath of her possession. She blames The Devil for the film’s issues.
Filmmakers Mike Flanagan, Karyn Kusama, Joe Dante and more also speak about Exorcist II. Released in 1977, four years after the original, the film was a box office and critical failure.
Boorman and the Devil premiered at the Venice International Film Festival in September.
