Aug. 10 (UPI) — An Idaho man who teamed up with his family to break the world record for clearing Hungry Hungry Hippos went solo to earn a second title for the game.

David Rush, who partnered with his wife and kids to set the Guinness World Record for the fastest time to clear a game of Hungry Hungry Hippos by a team of four at 3.75 seconds, said attempting the solo version of the record next “felt entirely natural.”

Rush was required to use only one finger from one hand during the attempt, but he could use all four hippos.

“The goal wasn’t to mash the lever; it was precision, rhythm, and eliminating wasted movement,” Rush said of taking on the solo version of the record. “Faster hits weren’t faster at clearing more hippos. Well-timed hits to the right hippo was was the key.”

He wound up clearing the game in a record-breaking 9.03 seconds — but he said there is still room for improvement.

“I don’t think I’m done with this one yet,” he said.
