NEW YORK, April 30 (UPI) — Willard, Longtime Companion and X-Men icon Bruce Davison plays a governor who must decide between power and friendship in the new contemporary western, Casa Grande.
In theaters Friday, the film stars Lou Diamond Phillips, John Pyper-Ferguson, Madison Lawlor, Christina Moore, Javier Bolaños, Kate Mansi, Lauren Swickard, Daniel Edward Mora, Loren Escandon, Bruce Davison, Shalim Ortiz and Charley Debenedetti.
Directed by Juan Pablo Arias Munoz and written by Munoz, Lauren Swickard, Sherell Jackson and Alex Ranarivelo, the movie follows two families fighting over the future of their California ranches.
Asked what he found most compelling about the plot, Davison told UPI in a Zoom interview Wednesday: “More than anything, the conflict that always exists between what is of value and what is changing.
“It is always one of the stories you can tell through science fiction or any procedural or westerns and this one has a really interesting take on it and I love the idea that Lou Diamond Phillips’ character has Latino affluence and the problems and the responsibilities and the conflicts that he has to deal with, coming up against what is of human value to John Pyper-Ferguson’s character,” he added. “Both of them have their flaws and have their values. It’s a wonderful story.”
