Aug. 11 (UPI) — Amazon MGM Studios is teasing the new film Verity.
The studio shared a full-length trailer for the movie Tuesday featuring Dakota Johnson, Anne Hathaway and Josh Hartnett.
Verity is a psychological thriller based on the Colleen Hoover (It Ends with Us) novel of the same name.
Johnson plays Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer who agrees to finish the work of Verity Crawford (Hathaway), a renowned author who was rendered unable to speak or move in an accident, unbeknownst to her fans.
“After Lowen uncovers what appears to be Verity’s chilling autobiographical notes, she wrestles with the disturbing and twisted confessions about Verity’s husband Jeremy (Harnett) and finds it hard to separate fiction from reality, manipulation from attraction, and opportunity from obsession,” an official synopsis reads.
The trailer shows Lowen start an affair with Jeremy while being inexplicably drawn to Verity herself.
Verity opens in theaters Oct. 2.
