April 6 (UPI) — Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie has returned to work after her 84-year-old mother went missing in February.
Nancy Guthrie, who was last seen Jan. 31, is believed to have been abducted or kidnapped and her whereabouts remain unknown.
“I can’t come back and try to be something that I’m not. But I can’t not come back because it’s my family,” Guthrie said in a March interview with Hoda Kotb. “I don’t know if I can do it. I don’t know if I’ll belong anymore, but I would like to try. I would like to try.”
On Monday, Guthrie appeared in a yellow dress alongside Craig Melvin, who wore a yellow tie. The hue has come to represent support from the Guthrie family, Today reported.
“We are so glad you started your week with us, and it is good to be home,” she said at the top of the show.
“You guys have been so beautiful,” she added in Rockefeller Plaza. “I’ve received so many letters, so much kindness to me and my whole family. We feel it. We feel your prayers, so thank you so much.”
A post on Today’s official Instagram account also welcomed back the co-anchor.
“Gold standard,” Kotb wrote in the comments, accompanied by two yellow hearts.
