Borussia Dortmund left it late but claimed a 2-0 win over Stuttgart, with both goals arriving in second-half stoppage time. The result dealt a blow to Stuttgart’s Champions League push and again highlighted Dortmund’s impact from the bench in key Bundesliga matches.
The visitors struggled for fluency for long spells at MHPArena and created little across open play. Yet substitutes Karim Adeyemi and Julian Brandt altered the contest in the final minutes, punishing Stuttgart’s wastefulness in front of goal and turning a tight clash on its head.
Stuttgart had controlled much of the encounter before the late collapse. The hosts pressed assertively and forced errors, especially before half-time. Chris Fuhrich threatened often from the left and produced five attempts before the interval, including a 13th-minute effort straight at goalkeeper Gregor Kobel.
The pattern continued after the restart as Stuttgart pushed for a breakthrough. Lorenz Assignon stung Kobel’s palms with a driven attempt. Jamie Leweling and Angelo Stiller then missed the target from promising positions, as repeated attacks failed to provide the goal the home side’s pressure suggested.
With Stuttgart still chasing a winner, Dortmund struck in the 94th minute through Adeyemi. A poor clearance dropped inside the area, Adeyemi gathered, shifted onto the right foot, and drilled into the bottom-left corner. Two minutes later, Brandt controlled Fabio Silva’s cross from the left and fired inside the near post.
