April 1 (UPI) — A24 is giving a glimpse of the new film Mother Mary.
The studio shared a trailer for the movie Wednesday featuring Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel.
Mother Mary is a pop music thriller following the singer Mother Mary (Hathaway) and her former best friend, Sam (Coel).
“Long-buried wounds rise to the surface when iconic pop star Mother Mary reunites with her estranged best friend and former costume designer Sam Anselm on the eve of her comeback performance,” an official synopsis reads.
The trailer features Hathaway singing on stage and hints at the madness that might unfold.
Mother Mary is written and directed by The Green Knight helmer David Lowery and features music from Jack Antonoff, Charli XCX and FKA twigs. The film opens in theaters April 17, with an official soundtrack to be released the same day.
Hathaway most recently starred in the 2024 film adaptation of The Idea of You. Coel is known for creating and starring in the series Chewing Gum and I May Destroy You.
