Attorney General Todd Blanche went ballistic when pressed about a scenario where President Donald Trump tries to overturn the results of November’s midterm elections if it doesn’t go his way.

The question, posed by CNN host Dana Bash Sunday, stemmed from a conversation about the Department of Justice’s lawsuit to block the certification of the competitive Senate race in Alaska if Republican Senator Dan Sullivan loses. Trump and his fellow Republicans have argued that since there is a second candidate not affiliated with a party named Daniel J. Sullivan Jr., the ballot will confuse voters and potentially siphon votes away from the GOP incumbent. The president has gone as far as to claim Daniel J. Sullivan is only running “because the Democrats want to steal the Election.”

“One of the big questions is whether or not the president is laying the groundwork for a scenario where — whether it’s Alaska or somewhere else — there is, in your words a couple of days ago, a ‘doomsday scenario,’ and we could be in a situation where President Trump tries to overturn the election.

“And the result of that could be, God forbid, what we saw after January 6th,” Bash said.

“Oh, stop it!” Blanche told Bash on CNN’s State of the Union. “You’ve gotta stop it with that! You are not being a real person! Come on, man! That is crazy!”

After Bash defended her question, Blanche insisted the lawsuit was about stopping fraud.

“You’re saying, ‘Mr. Attorney General, because a President of the United States wants to stop a fraud and confusion in Alaska is he going to do something crazy? That is not a real question!”

“I wish it wasn’t. I wish it wasn’t. But if you’re laying the groundwork for the president to try to overturn an election that he doesn’t like, there is concern—” Bash said before Blanche cut her off.

“We’re not laying any groundwork for the president to do that!” Blanche said. “So your premise, your question, is not true!”

Trump, who continues to baselessly claim that his 2020 election loss was rigged against him, has admitted to directing the DOJ to file the lawsuit in Alaska. The lawsuit was filed Thursday, sowing doubt about the integrity of the race less than two weeks before Election Day.

Senator Lisa Murkowski, a moderate Republican from Alaska who voted to convict Trump on an impeachment charge relating to the January 6 Capitol riot, said the DOJ “should never have filed this lawsuit.”

“Alaskans don’t need any help voting for their preferred candidates, and the State of Alaska has already handled this by clearly distinguishing the candidates on this year’s ballot,” Murkowski wrote on X Friday.

Trump attacked Murkowski in a late night Truth Social rant Saturday, calling her “Republicans’ Worst Senator” and a “DISGRACE to Alaska and our Country.”

The president claimed Murkowski was “upset because I revealed what everyone knows, that the Ranked Choice Voting Ballot is a TOTAL DEMOCRAT SCAM meant to confuse the Voter, so that Senator Dan Sullivan will lose Votes to a man who has never participated in Politics before, named Daniel J. Sullivan, Jr.”

Ranked choice voting lets voters rank candidates in order of preference. For a candidate to win, they need a majority of total votes cast.

“He is only there because the Democrats want to steal the Election, and Murkowski probably wants that to happen, which is why she is against the DOJ filing a Lawsuit in order to stop this impending crime and tragedy,” Trump’s post continued.

Senator Dan Sullivan is running against former Democratic Congressman Mary Peltola. Peltola was ahead by two points with 50 percent voter support compared to Sullivan’s 48 percent in a recent InsiderAdvantage poll.
