Neymar has thrown his support behind Barcelona star Lamine Yamal, calling the Spanish winger the “best in the world” after a statistical comparison highlighted their impressive attacking performances.
The Brazilian forward, who plays for Santos, shared a graphic from Score90 and Sofascore on his Instagram Stories, adding the message “Melhor do mundo”, which translates to “Best in the world”. The endorsement comes as Yamal continues to attract attention for his performances in Barcelona colours.
Neymar vs Lamine Yamal: The Numbers
The graphic compared Neymar’s 2017–18 season at Paris Saint-Germain with Yamal’s opening 10 matches for Barcelona in the 2026–27 campaign. Neymar registered 25 goals and 16 assists in 27 appearances for PSG, earning an average Sofascore rating of 8.81. Yamal, meanwhile, recorded eight goals and nine assists in his first 10 matches, with an average rating of 8.61.
According to the comparison, Neymar holds the highest average rating, while Yamal ranks second among the selected performances since 2015–16. However, the Spaniard’s current season is still underway, leaving room for his numbers to change.
Neymar’s praise carries added significance because Yamal has long admired the Brazilian’s flair, creativity and dribbling ability. The two share a friendly relationship, having spent time together in Brazil in 2025.
Yamal was part of the Spain squad that won the World Cup 2026 title in USA, the same competition also saw Neymar announcing his international retirement after Brazil were beaten by Norway in the Round of 16.
