Tottenham slipped deeper into relegation danger after a 2-1 defeat at Fulham, as Igor Tudor openly questioned the effort and intensity of the players. The loss extended Tottenham’s poor league run and added further pressure before a crucial sequence of fixtures for the north London club.
The result meant Tottenham matched their longest winless streak in the Premier League, stretching to 10 matches without victory. That run was last seen under Ossie Ardiles in 1994. Tudor has now suffered two consecutive defeats since replacing Thomas Frank, with Tottenham sitting only four points above the relegation zone.
Fulham completed a league double over Tottenham with a sharp, controlled display that exposed defensive frailties and fragile confidence. The first blow arrived early when Harry Wilson struck a precise volley, after Tottenham complained that Raul Jimenez had pushed Radu Dragusin in the build-up. Tottenham never fully recovered from that setback, despite a late response.
After the interval, Fulham increased their advantage when Alex Iwobi curled a composed shot from outside the area. The ball hit the inside of the post before crossing the line, giving Fulham a 2-0 lead. Tottenham responded through substitute Richarlison, who pulled one back, but Tudor’s side could not generate enough sustained pressure to avoid a fourth straight league defeat.
Tudor did not hide frustration with the performance, highlighting issues in both attack and defence. He told Sky Sports: “We were not good, we lacked everything. Attacking and defending, Fulham were much better. There are problems here, big problems.” The Croatian coach stressed that the shortcomings extended across all areas rather than one specific unit.
Despite the deteriorating form and the tightening gap to the bottom three, Tudor tried to keep focus on short-term targets. He said: “We are just thinking about the next game. We don’t need to think about that [relegation]. Not because it cannot happen, but we must focus on growing our mentality as a team, on our concentration, physically. These are the only goals we must have.” Tudor emphasised mental strength and physical standards as priorities over league calculations.
Fulham and Marco Silva approached the contest with confidence, and the victory secured only their second league double over Tottenham. The previous occurrence came in the 2003-04 season. The latest success underlined Fulham’s improvement against leading clubs, while adding to Tottenham’s problems near the bottom positions.
Iwobi played a key role throughout the match, combining work rate with creativity and end product. The midfielder created a game-high four chances and scored Fulham’s second goal with a powerful, accurate shot. Silva praised Iwobi’s contribution, telling BBC Sport: “It’s one of his best goals, he is capable of doing these types of things. He is stronger when he tries to choose a corner and make a strong pass. It was a brilliant moment for him. It was a great performance overall. From an offensive point of view, we enjoyed itwe were dynamic, creating chances, making it difficult for them.”
As the final whistle confirmed Fulham’s win, Tottenham faced renewed scrutiny over form, structure and confidence. The extended winless streak, historical comparison with 1994 and growing relegation threat leave Tudor with limited time to stabilise results. Fulham, by contrast, departed with belief strengthened, having combined solid finishing with sustained attacking movement against troubled opponents.
