Sept. 18 (UPI) — The Utah Jazz and Keyonte George agreed to a five-year, $157.5 million rookie-scale contract extension, the fourth-year guard confirmed Friday on Instagram.

George, 22, averaged a career-high 23.6 points, 6.1 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game over 54 starts last season for the Jazz.

The No. 16 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft averaged 17.2 points, 5.3 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 0.7 steals per game through the first 196 appearances of his career.

The Jazz guard is now under contract through the 2031 season. His deal carries an average annual value of $31.5 million. His rookie pact included an average annual value of $4.7 million.

The Jazz, who went 22-60 last season will take on the Denver Nuggets in a preseason game Oct. 4 in Boulder, Colo. They will battle the Memphis Grizzlies in their regular-season opener Oct. 21 in Memphis.
