Sept. 13 (UPI) — Peacock released the trailer for Crystal Lake on Sunday. The Friday the 13th prequel series premieres Oct. 15.
In 1971, Pamela Voorhees’ (Linda Cardellini) son, Jason, drowns in Crystal Lake. With no body recovered, Pam holds out hope that he’s still out there.
As people come looking for Pam, she fights back. The trailer shows Friday the 13th worthy kills with multiple machetes in the face and a Saran Wrap strangulation. A previous teaser was released in July.
Pam was the killer in the original 1980 Friday the 13th before a resurrected Jason took over in the long-running horror franchise. At a recent Los Angeles event, Cardellini said the show depicts how Pam went from a loving mother to a serial killer.
“There’s an arc there from somebody who means well and is trying to survive and doing the best that she can and fighting hard for things that she thinks are right,” Cardellini said, adding that Pam “then turns out to do all the wrong things.”
Crystal Lake also stars William Catlett, Devin Kessler, Cameron Scoggins and Gwendolyn Sundstrom. Callum Vinson plays Jason.
Brad Caleb Kane created the show. Peacock first announced the show in 2022 under Bryan Fuller. Fuller exited in 2024.
