Mumbai City FC have confirmed the signing of Serbian defender Lazar Ćirković on a one-year contract that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2026-27 season.

Born in Niš, Serbia, Ćirković began his professional career with Serbian SuperLiga club Rad in 2010. He also spent time on loan with Serbian League side Palić before making a move to Serbian giants Partizan in 2014.

Ćirković made his official debut for Partizan in a UEFA Europa League fixture against Tottenham Hotspur. During his four-year spell with the club, he won two Serbian SuperLiga titles and one Serbian Cup.

Following his time in Serbia, the defender continued his career across Europe, representing Luzern in Switzerland, Maccabi Netanya in Israel, and Hungarian clubs Kisvárda and Honvéd.

Ćirković subsequently moved to India, joining Chennaiyin FC in the Indian Super League. In his debut season, he helped the club secure a place in the playoffs before switching to Jamshedpur FC the following campaign. With the Men of Steel, he continued to feature regularly and helped the team reach the semi-finals.

At international level, Ćirković made his competitive debut for Serbia Under-21 in 2013 against Northern Ireland. He remained part of the setup until 2015 and was also included in Serbia’s squad for the 2015 UEFA European Under-21 Championship.

Speaking after completing his move, Ćirković said: “I am joining Mumbai City with a winning mentality. For me, the most important thing is always the team. I want to be someone my teammates can rely on, both on and off the pitch, and help Mumbai City compete for the biggest honours.”

Mumbai City head coach Manolo Márquez said: “Lazar gives us experience, balance and strength. He is a player who understands his responsibilities, works hard for the team and brings good quality. His mentality and experience will be very valuable for our squad.”
