Aug. 28 (UPI) — Apple TV has acquired the British comedy series Small Prophets.

The show, which originally premiered on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer earlier this year, will start streaming Oct. 7 on Apple TV.

Small Prophets is created by and stars Mackenzie Crook (Detectorists). Other cast members include Pearce Quigley, Lauren Patel, Michael Palin, Sophie Willan, Jon Pointing and Paul Kaye.

The series follows Michael Sleep (Quigley), an eccentric man whose girlfriend Clea disappeared seven years ago. Michael’s ordinary life is thrown for a loop when his dad Brian (Palin) gives him a recipe to create homunculi, magical spirits that can predict the future.

“Michael gets help from his young coworker Kacey (Patel), an unlikely friendship that blossoms partly, but not wholly, through their mutual dislike of store manager Gordon (Crook). Their friendship adds to the frustration and intrigue of his nosy neighbors (Willan, Pointing) who are obsessed with trying to figure out what the hell is going on in the garden shed,” an official synopsis reads.

Small Prophets was filmed and is set in and around Manchester. The live-action series also features “animation elements throughout a story of friendship and hope, the magical and the mundane, and where secrets and lies lurk in a suburban cul-de-sac.”
