Aug. 26 (UPI) — MGM+ has acquired Secret Service, a spy thriller series starring Gemma Arterton.

The show, commissioned by ITV and which originally aired on ITVX, will stream on MGM+ in the United States, Canada, Latin America and Italy.

Based on the Tom Bradby novel, Secret Service follows Kate Henderson (Arterton), a senior MI6 officer who discovers a high-ranking British politician may secretly be a Russian asset.

“With trust shattered and her career on the line, Kate must navigate the shifting sands of political loyalty, international threat, and personal sacrifice as she races to uncover their identity before it’s too late,” an official synopsis reads.

Rafe Spall and Alex Kingston also star.

Secret Service is created and adapted by Bradby and Jemma Kennedy, and directed by James Marsh and Farren Blackburn. The series consists of five episodes.

Arterton is known for the James Bond film Quantum of Solace and The King’s Man. Her other credits include the British series Funny Woman and Culprits.
