Aug. 14 (UPI) — The Arizona Cardinals lost guard Chase Bisontis to what appeared to sustained a serious left knee injury during a preseason win over the Las Vegas Raiders.

The second-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft was hurt in the third quarter of the 27-14 victory Thursday in Las Vegas when 6-foot-2, 315-pound defensive tackle Brandon Cleveland landed on his left leg.

Bisontis, who was carted off the field, did not return.

“Not good,” Cardinals coach Mike LaFleur told reporters, when asked about the rookie’s prognosis. “We’ve got to run some more tests, but I’d say not good right now.”

Bisontis was competing with Isaiah Adams for starting right guard duties. Adams was listed as the starter on the Cardinals’ first unofficial depth chart for 2026. Bisontis and Oli Udoh are listed as respective second- and third-string options.

Right tackle Elijah Wilkinson, center Hjalte Froholdt, left guard Isaac Seumalo and left tackle Paris Johnson Jr. are the other listed starters on the Cardinals’ offensive line.

LaFleur said third-string quarterback Carson Beck, who impressed last week in his preseason debut, was held out due to rib discomfort. The Cardinals’ third-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft sustained that injury when he took a sack during the Cardinals’ 33-30 loss to the Carolina Panthers on Aug. 6 in Glendale, Ariz.

“We want to see these guys out there,” LaFleur said. “But, it was what it was and we thought it was in the best interest to make sure we sat him back.”

Cardinals running back Jeremiyah Love, the No. 3 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, totaled 11 carries for 58 yards in his preseason debut Thursday in Las Vegas. He also caught three passes for 14 yards.

The Cardinals out-gained the Raiders 368 to 317 in total yards, including a 156 to 103 edge on the ground. They also held a 34:25 to 25:35 advantage in time of possession.

The Cardinals will host the Dallas Cowboys in their next preseason matchup at 10 p.m. EDT Aug. 22 in Arlington, Texas.
