Aug. 12 (UPI) — Kino Lorber released the trailer for Black Zombie on Wednesday. The film opens Sept. 11.
The documentary traces the history of zombies. Tom Savini, who created the zombie makeup for George Romero’s films, is included.
Slash also speaks about the appeal of zombies. “You could run as fast as you wanted,” Slash says. They would always get you.”
The trailer features additional speakers about Haitian zombie mythology and modern dancers of the Vodou movement.
Maya Annik Bedward directed Black Zombie. Additional interview subjects include Yves-Grégory Francois, Anderson Mojica, Erol Josué, Mambo Labelle Déesse Botanica, Tananarive Due and Zandashé Brown.
Black Zombie premiered at South by Southwest in March. It also played Hot Docs Canada, Fantasia and Blackstar Film Festival.
