July 28 (UPI) — Apple said Tuesday it has launched a leasing program for its technology products, including the iPhone, that offers monthly payment options for customers.
According to the tech giant, Apple Upgrade 12- and 24-month leasing options for iPhone and Apple Watch models and 24- and 36-month plans for its Mac computers and iPads.
Swedish digital bank Klarna will run the program, which will be available on Apple’s online store app and at its retail locations in the U.S.
“We’re thrilled that Apple Upgrade offers our customers, both online and in-store, a more flexible way to pay for the products they love,” Apple Online Store Vice President Karen Rasmussen said.
Leasing options start at $17.99 per month for iPhones, $11.99 for iPads and the Apple Watch, $24.99 for Macs.
Customers will be able to upgrade their devices to the next generation when the lease ends, buy the device in one payment, or turn it in, Apple said.
The company said its iPhone Upgrade Payments and iPhone Payments programs will be discontinued. It added that customers will be able to lease a new device through Apple Upgrade, finance with monthly Apple Card payments, buy the device outright, or select financing through their cell service providers.
