July 27 (UPI) — Xbox Live experienced an outage Monday with more than 3,000 users unable to access their games or launch titles on their systems.

Microsoft said it was investigating the issue. The problem has made it so some users cannot even play games they have physical copies of.

Xbox Live features that have been affected include signing in, managing subscriptions, accessing the online store, app and mobile services, accessing digital game libraries, and launching some games.

The problem is affecting the current generation systems Xbox Series X and Series S, as well as Xbox 360 users.

Xbox Support, an official Xbox account on social media, said it was made aware of the issues more than 12 hours before rolling out the latest Xbox system update. Microsoft said it has identified the cause of the issue but has given no timetable for it to be resolved.

Xbox users experienced outages about a week ago during the early-access launch of Halo: Campaign Evolved. The long-awaited remaster of the original Xbox launch title coincided with an outage that did not allow players to access the game and some of its online capabilities.

Last week’s outage was resolved in about 2 hours.

Xbox’s chief competitor, PlayStation, had outage issues Friday. More than 3,000 players reported outages on Friday morning.

PlayStation has drawn criticism in recent weeks over the announcement that it would stop producing physical copies of its games, raising concerns from players about ownership of digital-only titles.
