July 22 (UPI) — Selena Gomez is celebrating her 34th birthday.
The singer and actress came to fame on the Disney Channel series Wizards of Waverly Place and now stars on the hit Hulu series Only Murders in the Building. She has also released three solo albums.
Gomez, whose other credits include Spring Breakers, the Hotel Transylvania movies and Emilia Pérez, will appear in a number of new film and TV projects. Here’s a look at 4 of her upcoming roles in honor of her 34th birthday.
‘Only Murders in the Building’ Season 6
Gomez will reprise Mabel Mora in Season 6 of the hit Hulu mystery comedy-drama series.
Also returning are Steve Martin and Martin Short as Charles-Haden Savage and Oliver Putnam, two men who first bonded with Mabel while investigating a series of murders in their New York apartment building.
Season 6 will bring the trio to London, where they get wrapped up in a new mystery. Guest stars will include David Tennant, Nicola Coughlan, Jodie Whittaker, Jim Broadbent, Kathryn Hunter, Richard Ayoade, Simone Ashley, Sharon Horgan and Jennifer Saunders.
Hulu has yet to announce a premiere date for the new season, although it is expected to release in the fall.
‘Not Alone’
Gomez will lend her voice to the new animated film from Universal Pictures and Illumination (Despicable Me). The movie reunites her with her A Rainy Day in New York co-star Timothée Chalamet.
Not Alone is a sci-fi romantic comedy featuring Chalamet and Gomez as Joe and Fran, an “introverted rocket mechanic” and a “brilliant astro-botanist” who spark a romance just as three aliens crash-land into their lives on Earth.
Other voice cast members include Rob Brydon, Diane Morgan, Jamie Demetriou, Brett Goldstein, Allison Janney and Lamorne Morris.
Illumination released a teaser trailer for the film in June.
Not Alone opens in theaters in April 2027.
‘The Origin of the World’
Gomez will star in the new, “X-rated” epic from The Brutalist director Brady Corbet, Variety reported in May.
The “genre-defying” film “takes place mostly in the 1970s,” Corbet told The Hollywood Reporter in 2025. Cate Blanchett and Michael Fassbender are also attached to star.
Further details and a release date have yet to be announced.
Linda Ronstadt biopic
Gomez will play 11-time Grammy-winning singer Linda Ronstadt in an upcoming biopic from producer James Keach and Ronstadt’s manager John Boylan, Variety reported in 2024.
Ronstadt, 80, known for her hit 1975 version of “You’re No Good,” retired in 2012 after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and later said she has progressive supranuclear palsy.
Gomez had nothing but praise for Ronstadt in a 2025 interview with Amy Poehler’s Good Hang podcast, calling the singer “a voice of my childhood.” Gomez and Ronstadt both have Mexican heritage and have both released Spanish-language albums.
