July 18 (UPI) — Sons of Anarchy and The Walking Dead alum Ryan Hurst has suffered a serious bicep injury and his starring role of Kratos in Prime Video’s God of War adaptation will be re-cast.
The news was reported this week by Deadline, The Hollywood Reporter and People.com.
The actor, who has been filming the show in Vancouver since February, was injured doing a stunt in late June after putting on 40 pounds of muscle for the job.
He is now recovering from surgery to repair his torn bicep and production on the video-game adaptation has been suspended while the streaming service figures out what to do next.
Filming is expected to resume in October.
The ensemble also includes Callum Vinson, Mandy Patinkin, Ed Skrein, Teresa Palmer, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, Alastair Duncan, Jeff Gulka and Danny Woodburn.
The show has already been renewed for a second season.
Hurst can now be seen playing a supporting role in The Odyssey.
