Lionel Messi etched his name even deeper into football immortality by scoring his 900th senior career goal for club and country.
The Argentine superstar netted the landmark strike in just the 7th minute of Inter Miami’s CONCACAF Champions Cup Round of 16 second-leg clash against Nashville SC. Messi received a pass in the box, controlled it smoothly, spun past defenders, and drilled a precise left-footed shot into the far corner.
The goal gave Inter Miami an early lead in what became a tightly contested tie, but Miami ended up losing the tie. It came just days after his 899th against D.C. United, capping a relentless chase that only Cristiano Ronaldo had previously achieved. Messi has reached the landmark in approximately 1,142 appearances – a staggering average of nearly 0.79 goals per game across two decades.
