Manchester City complete the signing of 19-year-old forward Mathys Detourbet from Troyes in a reported 25m (€21.6m) deal. The move links two clubs already under the City Football Group umbrella, with Detourbet heading to the Etihad Stadium after a standout Ligue 2 campaign in 2025-26.
During that season, Detourbet scores three goals and supplies five assists in the league for Troyes. Those contributions help Troyes secure promotion to Ligue 1 as champions of the second tier, confirming a swift return to France’s top flight after relegation.
Detourbet leads Troyes in completed league dribbles, finishing the 2025-26 campaign with 44. The forward also ranks joint-third at the club for direct goal contributions, with eight in total across goals and assists, underlining a key attacking influence in a promotion-winning side.
The move caps a long association with Troyes, as Detourbet first joins the club’s academy at eight. The transfer is celebrated locally as an academy success story, with Troyes highlighting years of development work before Detourbet’s switch to Manchester City.

Despite the transfer, Detourbet is not expected to feature immediately for Manchester City. The forward is reportedly due to spend the 2026-27 season on loan at Monaco, which should provide regular Ligue 1 minutes and a higher competitive level after success in Ligue 2.
Troyes outline pride at Detourbet’s journey from the academy to a major European club. "Troyes is particularly proud to have supported Mathys' growth both as a player and as a man," said the club. "The whole club warmly thanks him for his commitment and professionalism."
The deal strengthens existing ties within the City Football Group, as a homegrown Troyes forward moves into Manchester City’s wider plans. With a loan to Monaco likely, Detourbet’s next steps will be watched closely after a productive season that helped secure Troyes’ league title and promotion.
