Real Madrid have secured the services of Spanish left-back Marc Cucurella from Chelsea in a deal worth up to €60 million.

The 27-year-old defender has agreed personal terms and is set to undergo a medical in the coming days, with the move strongly endorsed by incoming head coach José Mourinho.

The agreement includes an initial fixed fee of €55 million plus €5 million in performance-related add-ons. Sources close to the negotiations indicate that the deal was completed swiftly within 24 hours, beating competition from Atlético Madrid, who had also shown interest.
