Burnley face Brentford in a crucial Premier League match with survival and European hopes at stake. Burnley sit 19th, eight points behind 17th-place Nottingham Forest, with 11 games left. Brentford, chasing Champions League qualification, are recovering from a setback against Brighton but still carry strong attacking power, especially away from home.
Scott Parker’s Burnley have recently shown signs of life. A 3-2 comeback success at Crystal Palace was followed by a late 1-1 draw at Chelsea. Those four points have narrowed the gap slightly, while also lifting belief inside the squad that a sustained escape attempt is still possible this season.
Defender Joe Worrall stressed that Burnley understand the urgency of the situation, even after improved results. “We are getting there, you’re just very conscious in the back of your mind that we’ve not got a lot of games to rectify the situation,” said Worrall, who expects standards to rise again over the run-in.
Worrall highlighted how the away performances at Selhurst Park and Stamford Bridge have changed the mood. “But if you go off the back of Palace away, Chelsea away, and you say we’re going to get four points we’d snap your hand off,” Worrall said, pointing to the growing resilience within Parker’s group.
The defender also praised the preparation done between matches. “The way we’ve played is a testament to the work we’ve been doing behind-the-scenes. I know it might seem frustrating at times, and I feel for the fans, they expect more. But at the same time, I just want to reiterate that we are pushing and trying and doing things the right way. The last two results in the league have shown that,” Worrall added.
Looking ahead, Worrall underlined that the final phase of the campaign will define Burnley’s season. “We are where we are and we know that we really have to have a really good go at it the last 10 games. What’s gone is gone and we’re just looking forward to building on these last two games,” Worrall said, urging continued focus.
Burnley will again look to Zian Flemming for attacking impact. No Burnley player has more Premier League goals this season than Flemming, with six. All six have come away from Turf Moor, which makes Flemming the leading scorer in the competition without a single home goal so far this campaign.
For Brentford, Igor Thiago remains the central threat in front of goal. Igor Thiago has scored 17 Premier League goals for Brentford this season. Only Erling Haaland, with 22 for 2025-26, has more. However, Igor Thiago has only scored once since 7 January, a penalty at St. James Park against Newcastle United.
Brentford’s recent league form has been mixed. The Bees’ last outing brought a 2-0 home defeat against Brighton. Diego Gomez and Danny Welbeck both struck before half-time, ending Brentford’s four-match unbeaten league sequence. That result slowed their push towards the top four and highlighted some tactical and physical issues across the pitch.
Midfielder Mathias Jensen admitted Brentford fell short in that game. “We’re disappointed, obviously,” Jensen said. “I don’t think we deserved any more than that. For some reason, it was a bit flat and the energy was a bit low. But also they played well – they picked up good positions, and it was hard for us to get into the right pressure, like we usually do. Unfortunately, there have been a few games this season where it’s just not quite worked, and we’re not doing well enough.”
Burnley vs Brentford Premier League prediction and long pass data
Historical results between these clubs offer contrasting signals. Brentford have taken three wins from the last four league meetings with Burnley, losing the other. Brentford can complete a league double over Burnley for only the second time, last achieved in 1934-35. Yet Burnley have lost just once in 12 home league games against Brentford.
Burnley’s strong home record in this fixture includes seven wins and four draws in those 12 matches. Burnley have also won each of the last three home league clashes with Brentford, including both Premier League fixtures at Turf Moor. That sequence gives Burnley hope despite the current gap to Nottingham Forest in the standings.
Recent away results strengthen Brentford’s case. Keith Andrews’ side have won four of their last five Premier League away games, losing only once. That run already beats their previous 13 away matches combined, when they earned three wins, two draws and eight defeats. Brentford therefore arrive with confidence whenever the schedule takes them on the road.
Both teams rely heavily on direct passing. Burnley and Brentford have the highest long pass percentages in the Premier League this season, at 14.7% and 14.5% respectively. In the reverse fixture, Burnley attempted 79 long passes and Brentford 42. Burnley’s total is the highest by any team in a single league game in 2025-26.

OPTA’s model favours Brentford for this match despite Burnley’s home history. Burnley are given a 26.1% chance of victory, while the probability of a draw stands at 23.5%. Brentford are assessed at 50.4%, reflecting their recent away form, Igor Thiago’s season record, and Burnley’s position in the relegation places.
The meeting at Turf Moor therefore brings different pressures for both clubs. Burnley chase points to close the eight-point gap to Nottingham Forest and escape 19th place. Brentford look to recover from the Brighton defeat while protecting Champions League ambitions. The balance between direct styles, key forwards and mental strength is likely to decide the contest.
