March 10 (UPI) — The Detroit Lions agreed to a one-year contract with running back Isiah Pacheco, a source familiar with the agreement told UPI on Tuesday.
Pacheco, who spent his first four seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs, logged 563 yards from scrimmage and two scores over 13 appearances in 2025. The seventh-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft logged a career-best 1,179 yards from scrimmage and nine scores in 2023.
He is now expected to play a complementary role for the Lions, replacing David Montgomery as star running back Jahmyr Gibbs’ backfield sidekick.
Pacheco’s agreement with the Lions came a day after the Chiefs agreed to a three-year pact with former Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III, the MVP of Super Bowl LX.
Jacob Saylors and Sione Vaki are the other running backs under contract with the Lions in 2026. The Lions, who ranked fifth and sixth, respectively, in rushing in 2023 and 2024, ranked 14th last season.
