March 10 (UPI) — The New York Giants agreed to a one-year deal worth up to $10 million with veteran cornerback Greg Newsome II, sources familiar with the transaction told UPI on Tuesday.
The five-year veteran split last season between the Cleveland Browns and Jacksonville Jaguars.
Pro Football Focus rated Newsome as the No. 66 cornerback among those who were in for at least 50% of the maximum snaps played at the position last season. He started the first five games of the Browns’ 2025 campaign and was traded to the Jaguars in October.
The No. 26 overall pick by the Browns in the 2021 NFL Draft appeared in 59 games for the AFC North franchise. He rated as the No. 26 cornerback among those in for 50% of the maximum snaps played at the position in 2021. He was No. 28 among qualifying cornerbacks in 2022 and 2023.
Paulson Adebo, Deonte Banks, Dru Phillips, Korie Black and Rico Payton are among the other cornerbacks under contract with the Giants in 2026.
