Katie McCabe is set to leave Arsenal at the end of the current season, bringing an 11-year spell with the club to a close when the contract expires. The long-serving defender has become a central figure for Arsenal Women and now prepares for a final farewell in the Women’s Super League.
The Republic of Ireland international has made 305 appearances in all competitions for Arsenal and scored 37 goals. During that time, McCabe has collected every major trophy available with the club and was named Arsenal’s Player of the Season in both 2020-21 and 2022-23.
McCabe’s honours list with Arsenal includes the Women’s Super League title, the FA Cup, three League Cups, the Champions League and the Champions Cup. Those successes span more than a decade in north London and underline the defender’s influence during a period of sustained competitiveness for Arsenal Women.
| Trophy | Number won with Arsenal |
|---|---|
| Women’s Super League | 1 |
| FA Cup | 1 |
| League Cup | 3 |
| Champions League | 1 |
| Champions Cup | 1 |
Across those years, McCabe also spent time on loan at Glasgow City, a spell described as important for development on returning to Arsenal. After coming back from Scotland, McCabe established a regular starting place and built the consistency that later brought individual recognition and multiple club awards.
The defender’s last appearance at Emirates Stadium came in Arsenal’s 1-0 win against Everton on Wednesday, when cameras showed McCabe in tears at the final whistle. There is still one more opportunity to feature, with a final Women’s Super League game against Liverpool scheduled on Saturday.
After a decade of representing the badge with honour, Katie McCabe will leave the club this summer. Our number 11 has won every title with Arsenal and leaves behind a legacy to be truly proud of. Thank you for everything, KatieArsenal Women (@ArsenalWFC) May 14, 2026">
Reflecting on the decision, McCabe shared a detailed message with supporters on Arsenal’s website. Over time, it became so much more than football. It became home, McCabe said in a message to fans on Arsenal's website. I grew up here. I built something to be proud of here. I've achieved every major trophy here, and it's shaped me as a player and as a person. We've been through everything together. The early days trying to find my place, the loan spell that changed a lot for me, and then coming back and finally feeling like I belonged here.
McCabe also highlighted the influence of former Arsenal manager Joe Montemurro on a career that developed alongside the rise of women’s football. I owe so much to Joe Montemurro. He saw something in me and gave me the belief and confidence to become the player I always believed I could be. From there, it's been an amazing journey. I'm incredibly proud of how far we've come together, and women's football as a whole. We represent something far greater than our individual objectives. To have been part of that journey is something I'll always cherish. After more than a decade, it's time for a new chapter to begin this summer for me.
As the season nears its end, McCabe’s departure draws a line under a significant chapter for Arsenal Women. The defender leaves with every major club honour secured, a strong connection with supporters and a final league appearance with Liverpool still to come before attention turns to the next stage of a decorated career.
