Arsenal moved six points clear at the top of the Premier League after a controlled 3-0 victory over Fulham, with Viktor Gyokeres scoring twice and Bukayo Saka also finding the net. The match was effectively settled before the break, allowing Mikel Arteta to rotate key players during a calmer second half.
The result increases pressure on Manchester City, who remain the closest challengers with two games in hand. City travel to face Everton on Monday, while Fulham stay 10th in the table, three points behind the European qualification places after rarely troubling Arsenal’s defence at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal imposed control from the opening minutes and showed none of the anxiety seen in earlier home fixtures. The breakthrough arrived after nine minutes, when Saka, starting for the first time since the EFL Cup final, twisted Raul Jimenez one way then another before cutting the ball across for Gyokeres to convert from close range.
The hosts continued to create clear chances and should have doubled the advantage in the 27th minute. Bernd Leno reacted sharply to block Gyokeres from inside the area, and Saka, following up, dragged the rebound wide. Fulham struggled to escape their own half for long periods as Arsenal pinned back both full-backs.
Riccardo Calafiori thought he had extended the lead when a powerful header from Leandro Trossard’s cross found the net, but VAR intervened and ruled the defender marginally offside. Arsenal’s pressure soon told again, though, as Saka drove a fierce shot inside Leno’s near post on 40 minutes after strong hold-up work from Gyokeres.
Arsenal added a third goal deep into first-half stoppage time, effectively ending the contest. Trossard hung a cross from the left towards the back post, and Gyokeres adjusted body position well to steer a deft header beyond Leno. The forward’s brace underlined growing confidence in a first Premier League campaign.
With a comfortable cushion, Arteta protected players ahead of a busy schedule. Saka was withdrawn at half-time, and both Gyokeres and Declan Rice followed shortly after the hour mark. Arsenal still went close to a fourth when Calafiori met another cross, only for Leno to tip the header onto the crossbar.
Recent home displays had raised concerns after a 2-1 defeat against Bournemouth and a narrow 1-0 win over Newcastle United, when pressure situations appeared to affect decision-making. This time Arsenal produced a more assertive attacking performance, creating sustained openings while restricting Fulham to limited counter-attacking opportunities across both halves.
Arsenal’s attacking numbers highlighted that control. By half-time, they had generated 2.39 non-penalty expected goals (xG), the third-highest first-half figure by any Premier League side this season. Only Bournemouth against Chelsea in December, with 2.77, and Manchester City versus Leeds United in November, with 2.67, produced higher non-penalty xG totals.

The final statistics underlined the gulf between the sides. Arsenal recorded 18 shots and finished on 2.97 xG, while Fulham managed 10 attempts worth just 0.43 xG. Gyokeres and Saka led the way in attack, linking effectively with Trossard and contributing to the fast tempo that Fulham rarely disrupted.

Gyokeres was involved in three goals in a Premier League match for the first time, with two goals and one assist. The forward now has 21 goals in all competitions this season, making Gyokeres the first Arsenal player to reach at least 20 goals in a debut campaign since Alexis Sanchez hit 25 in 2014-15.
Saka continued to build an already significant record at Arsenal. The winger reached 150 goal involvements in all competitions, with 80 goals and 70 assists. Gyokeres also became the 18th different player Saka has assisted in Premier League action, underlining how central Saka remains to Arsenal’s attacking structure.
Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Fulham strengthens control of the Premier League title race and offers a response to earlier questions about composure. With a six-point lead and rivals facing catch-up fixtures, Arteta’s side leave the Emirates Stadium with renewed confidence and clear evidence of attacking rhythm returning at a crucial stage.
