Donald Trump has hit back at a claim that Iran had âtaken him for a suckerâ after he extended the ceasefire in the war between the two countries.
The US President responded angrily on his Truth Social media platform to an article in the respected Wall Street Journal, arguing the newspaper had âLOST ITS WAY!â
He described the WSJ columnist Eliot Kaufman as an âIDIOTâ over an article headlined: âThe Iranians Take Trump for a Suckerâ.
Kaufman wrote: âHow many times will President Trump pay Iran for the same real estate?
âTwice he has announced the opening of the Strait of Hormuz, and twice he has given up U.S. leverage in exchange.
âYet the strait remains closed, as Iranâs regime demands more.â

In a separate article, Kaufman argued recently that Iranâs regime Tehran had âswindledâ Trump three times â repeatedly promising to reopen the strait before closing it again to extract further concessions from Washington.
The US President declared: âAn IDIOT on The Wall Street Journalâs Editorial Board, named Elliot Kaufman, just wrote an Op Ed entitled, âThe Iranians Take Trump for a Sucker.â
âReally? For 47 years, they have killed our people, and many others, and taken advantage of every President, except me â And what did I give to them, a Country in tatters!â
President Trump listed the US militaryâs successful strikes against Iranâs Navy, Air Force and other targets as evidence of his achievements in the conflict.
Iran was an âeconomic catastrophe hanging by a thread,â Trump wrote.
The clash between Trump and the WSJ came after he extended the ceasefire with Iran hours after saying US soldiers were âraring to goâ in future attacks on Iran.
It prompted claims by critics that Trump has âblinkedâ again in the conflict and fresh taunts that he is the âTACO (Trump Always Chickens Out).
